Current Oakring Horses
In the beginning…Little Meg
Little Meg is the original mare from which the Oakring stud began. Sam produced this mare and won endless show jumping and eventing classes at competitions. Prior to Sam leaving home and going to university it was decided that this mare would start the Oakring sport horse family. With this in mind Little Meg and Demokrat, the well known Hanoverian sport horse stallion, proved a great combination and produced Oakring’s first offspring Little Dunn.
The first Oakring home bred…Little Dunn
Little Dunn was the first home bred of the Oakring line by the talented Hanoverian stallion Demokrat. This stunning mare who was a big part of Sam’s competition background in dressage and eventing. However due to an unexpected period of injury Sam decided to put Little Dunn in foal. Chadron Quainton was selected; a super young stallion that was based with and ridden by Ben Maher,Olympic gold medallist. This was a super combination producing Oakring Chadun (Charlie).
Unfortunately the mare suffered a sudden onset of colic and despite all efforts Oakring lost her. This left Charlie at only four months old without his mother and his regular nutritional input, but with expert help from Sam and her team he soon become very independent and was not disadvantaged in anyway.
Current Oakring Brood Mare…Little Law (Its Sod’s law)
Little Law is Sam’s stunning big mare who has impressive paces and a big loose jump. This home bred mare was carefully produced and successfully competed at both British Eventing and British Dressage. Due to Sam’s competition commitments with her owner’s horses at the the time, it was decided to use Little Law to breed quality young stock for the future. This has proved to be very successful with both her progeny winning prestigious awards on a national level. Plans are for her to be put in foal again in spring 2014. She has proved to be a top brood mare and is still lightly ridden by Sam’s Mother.
